TEDx Talks that Redefine the Meaning of Success

"Success" is a subjective term. The official definition of the word is "the accomplishment of an aim or purpose." However, realistically, success has different meanings for everyone. For one person, success can mean completing a chore off their to-do list, whereas for another, success can mean having their dream job and family by 35.

Many people have succeeded in their own fields, goals, and aims. Success is always something to aspire to and reach towards. There are many ways to achieve success, and one of them is to learn from experience. Many TEDx speakers have shared stories of their personal success in their respective areas of interest. These talks not only inspire but also help others learn.

A Story Can Change Your Life | Dhvanit Thaker | TEDxNHLMMC

This inspiring talk tells the story of Dhavanit Thaker, an infamous radio voice. In this talk, he shares his story of success, and how he had to claw his way to the top, from dropping out of college to being an immensely talented radio jockey.

2. Failing at Normal: An ADHD Success Story | Jessica McCabe | TEDxBratislava

While the word "failing" suggests the complete opposite of success, Jessica McCabe’s story is about the uphill stretch before reaching the top of the mountain. She shares her journey living with ADHD and the stereotypes that come along with it. Jessica talks about how her change of perception was what helped her in the long run. Now, she has a dedicated YouTube channel HowToADHD, to help others living with the same disorder.

3. The Most Successful Person in the World | Jeff Haden | TEDxPaloAlto

Jeff Haden, known for his book The Motivation Myth: How High Achievers Really Set Themselves Up to Win, published in 2018, shares his insights and lessons on the key to success. He talks about motivation being a complete hoax. As controversial as that may sound, Jeff brings up interesting points about how motivation is the result of success rather than the reason.

All these talks explore success in different ways: from proving the infamous cliche, "after the storm comes the calm," to showing the need for struggle in every success story, to pushing the idea of taking action rather than waiting for motivation to strike... In fewer words, these talks can and have helped broaden perspectives in order to push us towards achieving our own personal goals and attaining our own personal expectations for success.
